KJFM SPORTS — The Silex Owls took the lead late in the game in a 10-4 victory over Mark Twain on Monday. The game was tied at three with the Owls batting in the top of the sixth when Ian Beckham doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Silex secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by the Owls was led by Beckham, Chase Mullen, Tyler Twellman, Derek Kingan, Max Lavy, and Trenton Roth, all driving in runs in the inning.
Mark Twain got things started in the second inning when Conner Eckler singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the fifth inning, Silex tied things up at three. The Owls scored one run on a stolen base.
Hunter Hubbard led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Silex. The righty lasted five innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out nine.
Eckler started the game for Mark Twain. He allowed two hits and three runs over five innings, striking out seven. Quin Eckler and Jacob Dotson entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.
Beckham led Silex Owls Varsity with three hits in five at bats.
