BRANSON, Mo.– In 2006, construction of a mammoth project, Indian Ridge Resort, was launched near Branson, Missouri. It was a $1.6 billion dollar project located on Table Rock Lake set to span 900 acres.
The resort, slated to include a water park, condos, hotel, and marina, as well as large vacation homes came to an abrupt halt during the development slump stemming from the 2008 recession.
Recently, a TikTok video of the abandoned development went viral causing a heightened amount of interest in the area. Fascination with the “ghost town” has caused backups on the nearby Highway 76, the Stone County Sheriff is warning that the area is private property. He is advising visitors to check out all the other great attractions in the region to avoid any sort of citation.
While the original developers of the Indian Ridge Resort pled guilty in 2015 to real estate fraud, new developers have since purchased the property with plans for development.
